Photo book Designs:
Got an old shoebox filled with photographs in the back of your cupboard? Got folders on your computer filled with pics you never look at? Turn them into a photo book! We can digitise your old photographs, and retouch your digital images to get them photo book ready! And, if the thought of designing a photo book yourself feels a little daunting, we can also design it for you!
Why use a designer?
Why not? With years of experience processing hundreds of different books, our designers know what works and what doesn’t. They understand how to get the most out of your photos, and can give you expert creative guidance that will improve the production quality of your photo book.
If you have a strong understanding of what your book should look like, our designers make it easy to achieve. If you have no idea what you want, they can do the work for you.
- Organise your photos: Sort your photos into folders, or rename them in the order you would like them to appear. Remember, our designer doesn’t know the story behind your photographs, so it will take them a lot longer to sort them for you, which will cost you more in the end.
- Make retouching notes: If you want specific photos retouched or enhanced, these requirements need to be communicated before we start designing your book. Retouching often takes more time than laying out the book, which will add to the final cost of your photo book.
Our designers will touch up where they can see there’s room for improvement (red eyes or a crack in a photo). However, as we work with a lot of customers who retouch their own photos, we won’t do extensive retouching without instructions from you.
How much will cost to design my book?
This is quite a funny question, but we get it all the time! Unfortunately, there is no straight answer; it all depends on the following:
- Size of the book.
- Type of cover chosen.
- Number of pages.
- Number of photographs.
- Number of photographs to be scanned.
- Amount of retouching work.
Our handy photo book price calculator will give you an idea of the basic cost of printing your photo book. Then, we’ll send you a quote for our design time and any scanning or retouching work that is needed.
How long will it take to get my photo book?
The standard time is 15 working days, including design:
- 1–5 working days for scanning and retouching – depending on the amount of photographs you have submitted.
- 3 working days for design and first proof.
- 5 working days to send you the final proof, which you will hopefully sign off.
- 5–10 working days to print, bind, wrap in tissue paper and package in a beautiful black linen box.
We hope that your book does not take longer than this, however if you want to add more photos or make changes after seeing the first proof, the timeline will be affected. Changes might also affect the design cost; if this is the case, we’ll send you an updated quote.
What is a proof?
A proof is a digital version of your photo book’s layout that’s used for checking and correcting your artwork. In other words, proofs are there for you to check your book, and make changes if necessary.
Will I see a proof before it goes to print?
Definitely! We always send a proof for checking and sign off before printing, as no changes can be made after the book has gone to print.
What does it mean to sign off a proof?
The accuracy of your work is your responsibility. Once you are 100% happy that each proof – images and text – is 100%, you will need to sign it off to confirm that you have checked it and are happy to proceed to print.
We take our proof sign-off very seriously, as our designers and production team will not be held responsible for any errors.

How long does it take?
This all depends on the amount of design work we have on our schedule at the time, the nature of the design work you require and how many changes are requested during the process. You will have an idea of timing when we send you your quote. If anything changes regarding your job, we’ll send you an update and an updated quote.
